Fall is upon us Y’all and I could not be more thrilled!

It is absolutely my favorite time of the year. But here in Texas, we have to force the autumn season on us in any way that we can. I keep the air conditioning in the house super cold, just so I can wear warm jammies, fuzzy socks, and wrap up in a soft warm blanket. Maroon colored mums (Gig em!) surround our front porch. Fall scented candles are always burning and I sprinkle a little bit of pumpkin spice on just about everything.

My daughter and I walked into Hobby Lobby over a month ago one afternoon and we saw a beautiful display in the front, of a Christmas tree decorated with pumpkins and leaves. Say what?? I stopped dead in my tracks. Are you kidding me? Why had I never thought of such a thing before?? I was more than intrigued.

I spent about a good ten minutes with that tree, walking around it, admiring it and even snapped a few photos of it. The mission of my original shopping trip suddenly changed gears and we were now on a mission to buy fall ribbon, flower stems, garland, and pumpkins. Anything I could get my hands on.

But first, I stopped off in the candle aisle to open up and inhale the delicious pumpkin scents. It was just what I needed to keep me mentally focused on my plan. I was going to create a Fall Tree that was bigger and better than any display in this store, nor what my quick search through Pinterest could reveal about turning your Christmas Tree into a Fall Tree.

All my goodies sat in the dining room waiting for my hubby to get the Christmas tree out for me. It’s not the easiest thing to get out. It’s a 12-foot jumbo tree we bought from Costco a few years ago. It’s super heavy and comes in two huge boxes. So during my two-week long wait (gasp!), yes two very long weeks. I might add that I was patiently waiting. It’s ok…It just gave me more time make a few more purchases thanks to an awesome Michael’s sale and coupons. I was all set.

Today was the day. I was giddy with excitement. But before I could start, I had to prep. The wax cubes were melting, candles burning and a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte in my hand. Oh, and HGTV was playing in the background. I changed my shoes into my cushy slippers, poured out my fall goodies on the dining table and it was on!

After three hours, I found myself more than pleased with the result. I plan to add some large faux pumpkins under the tree. Maybe some small bales of hay too. But for now, I’m exhausted so all that plus the dining table and fireplace mantel decor will wait for another day. The sun has gone down as I type, the tree lights are on and all is well with my soul. Thank you, Jesus, for this season! Amen.

I would love to hear your thoughts!

      1. Yes, it does! I’m always shocked each year when I walk into a store and it’s already filled with Christmas decor! I’m not ready! 🙂

  1. I love everything about this season and trees are looking amazing though. I fall in love with your posts like the trees has fall a look to it. Thanks a lot for sharing such a detailed post that is an ample proof how wholeheartedly you want to serve peoples in their best interest.

  2. A Fall Tree is such a wonderful idea. I hate seeing Christmas things being put up too early but I do love it at the right time of year. The idea of a fall tree is brilliant, it allows you to celebrate the time of year whilst preparing for that oncoming Christmas feel. I love how you have decorated your tree.
I too love snuggling up with a big jumper. There is something very comforting about this time of year.

  3. My husband is a little Bah-humbug when it comes to Christmas so I end up leaving the Christmas tree till the last minute. However you have just given me a solution to embracing the festivities.
So today I am going to shop for some fall items to decorate the tree with and then slowly transfer it into a Christmas tree at the end of November.

    1. Yes, that’s awesome! You will love it! I love how beautiful and festive it looks in our home. Hopefully, it will get your hubby in the holiday spirit too!

  4. What a wonderful idea. Spring and fall are my favourite time of year. Spring as it is time to move out of those warm clothes you have been wearing all winter and Fall as I love getting back into those warm comforting clothes 🙂
So this year I can celebrate Fall with my own Fall tree.

    1. Thank you, Janine! It’s become one of my all-time ways to decorate our home for fall now….and I love that it’s getting chilly enough for sweaters and boots!

  5. I have to thank you Shaylah. I really love your blog. As a single mom it has really helped me.
This post has given me such a good idea as I was struggling to think of how I can decorate my house on a budget for Halloween. I am going to use my Christmas tree and create this but put some spook addition for the run up to Halloween.
Then after Halloween it can continue as a Fall tree until it becomes time for Christmas. A great activity for my son too!

  6. It is crazy to think that it is already Fall again. it only seems like yesterday that I was packing away the winter jumpers and getting out the summer dresses. This Fall tree is a great way to liven the house up. my daughter is going to love this idea and it is a great way to get grandma involved too. And bonus, we get to decorate the tree twice this year!

    1. Yes, that’s what made me so excited! I get to keep the tree up longer and decorate twice! Thanks, Annie!
